Same skill - new setting

Ask students to apply the same skill in a new setting. Once students have mastered a skill, consider asking them to apply it in a new or more challenging setting.

Teacher: So what lever is working in a calf raise?

Student: That lever is a second class lever with the resistance in the middle.

Teacher: Good. I notice that you remembered both parts of lever classification. Can you remember what lever is working in a bicep curl?

Student: It is a third class lever

Teacher: How do you know it is a third class lever?

Student: The effort is in the middle.

Teacher: Good, but what do you mean with regards to the effort?

Student: That’s the muscle contracting to create the movement.

Teacher: Great. I’ll give you some sporting actions and you can identify the lever.
