I have been on the same journey as the author. And, by doing this, I have noticed that by taking a steadier pace (through discussions, verbal questioning and careful, measured exam practice) allows the students to 'chew' the knowledge rather than be forced to 'wolf it down' at a rapid pace (in a number of different ways); leaving them unable to fully digest what they have learnt.
