Excellent points about the use of resources. I spend a lot of my time selecting or producing appropriate resources for my students, ensuring progression and pitch are at the right level. I rarely ask if students know why they are working on a particular task and never ask if they understand why questions have been ordered in a particular way. This is definitely something I'm going to try to start. I think it will allow an awareness of what makes some questions more difficult and could improve their ability to articulate which specific part they are struggling with.
